TURTLE SHELL PRODUCTIONS seeks 8 minute plays. Deadline: January 15, 2008
Turtle Shell Productions kicks off their fifth annual 8 Minute Madness Playwright Festival, in our beautifully renovated new theater space in the heart of Times Square. This DO NOT MISS event is geared towards the development and presentation of original work by up-and-coming playwrights . Our selection committee will review submitted plays, and twenty-four will be chosen to be workshopped, cast, rehearsed and showcased in front of an audience including press and the hottest New York literary agents. Rewrites and ongoing development is encouraged, so works in progress are welcome. This is a fun and exciting event with awards and prizes for the top plays and performances, and an excellent opportunity for exposure. The Festival will run February 21 - March 9th. The twenty-four plays selected will be divided into groups of eight and performed on alternating nights. Each night, three of the eight will be chosen by the audience and a panel of industry judges to advance to the final 8-minute short
play showcase. In addition, one “wild card” will be chosen for the final presentation. We have received many exciting inquiries by both talent and literary agents interested in being part of this year's event. The recipient of the “Best Playwright” award will receive the crown of the 8 Minute Madness Playwright Festival Trophy and will be known for eternity as an award-winning playwright.
