Mind The Gap Theatre exists to find, read, evaluate, develop and ultimately produce new British theatrical writing in New York City. While our focus is on presenting new British works, with a company of mad talented actors and playwrights from BOTH sides of the pond, we occassionally like to show off what the Yanks in our company can do by taking a new American play to the UK. Mind The Gap Theatre's Literary Committee will look to read approximately 100 new plays per year. For submission guidelines see below:
Play Submission Guidelines

Plays must be either

By English, Scottish, Welsh or Northern Ireland playwrights OR

Submissions should include a one-page author's cover note briefly but clearly describing the work.

MTG currently prefers Submissions to come in via email as a pdf or word document. Please send to us here

We are eager to read and present plays from all over the British Isles to achieve a level of regional, ethnic and gender diversity. Plays which MTG finds itself unable to consider will be returned only if a self-addressed stamped envelope has been enclosed.

After being read and critiqued by at least two members of the committee, 12 plays per year will be chosen to be presented in our monthly reading series. Playwrights are invited to the reading and encouraged to participate in a post-reading discussion with the audience, MTG will work to raise funds for partial sponsorship for the playwright to attend. To check out our staff of experienced readers comprising our Literary Committee click here.

Each year Mind The Gap Theatre will offer a handful of playwrights the opportunity of developing their play in a one or two week intensive workshop. These workshops are designed to put the play on its feet and "see if it has legs." The playwright will have the opportunity to work closely with a mutually selected workshop director, members of the literary committee and a committed group of professional actors. The workshop will usually culminate in a workshop production evening at a respected venue, in front of a live audience.

The ultimate goal of Mind The Gap is not merely to present readings and workshops, but to bring to life the highest quality productions. Each year Mind The Gap will present 1-3 new productions in New York City and will present one new American play at a UK venue or festival.

MTG is looking for one-acts (90 minutes or less) for their 2007 reading series.

Email word or pdf docs and a short blurb about yourself to

allaboard@mindthegaptheatre.com

The reading series begins April 24th and continues on the last Tuesday of the month through November.
