I just started a Facebook group dedicated to makers and admirers of "dangerous theatre"--theatre that takes chances, pushes buttons, and strives to make theatregoing an experience. If that's your bag, whether a playwright, director, actor, or other theatre professional (as an audience member), please check it out, and, if you like what you see, join and/or pass on the word. Some really talented folk have already signed on.
Haven't seen you here in awhile. Good to see you again.
I don't do Facebook,
But I think it is wonderful you have done this.
From what I see, there is no thing as "Dangerous Theatre" being produced. I have not seen any in Chicago.
I love all theatre from Romantic Comedy to musicals to classics to oddball to truly dangerous to whatever. Dangerous does not seem to be in the produceable mix, at least in established, funded theatres of any level, as far as I can see.
I have been told person to person, the "dangerous" stuff - in this current climate for the last 10 years - is D.O.A.
Maybe in some small very, very fringe theatres, but not in mainstream or even near mainstream.
Please turn me on to some dangerous theatre. ANYWHERE! Shake me up.
I am starving.
Best,
IMR

We did not get the funding we hoped for this year for UNHINGED...but this gave us a wonderful opportunity to re-evaluate what we had and what we wanted.
We pushed the date and the boundaries and it will be produced in Nov/Dec and has been redefined as dark edgy theatre that disturbs.
I too have had enough pretty things.
Keep us in mind for next year, will post opp soon, but remember that we work like a fringe, and you self-produce.
Thanks for the vote of encouragement. Send me the info when you're ready, and I'll post it on the group. Been a lot of enthusiasm over a very short time; so we'll see where it goes.
I'm only going to bait a small hook as I'm supposed to be working and have Urban Scrawlers coming soon (playwright's group) in another thread...say what you want...
