Hi,
Introducing myself finally, although I've already read and posted here and there.
Live in rural western canada on a river in the mountains and aside from writing spend my time at horses and housework and gardens and acting in community productions and stuff like that.
I've been stuck for a bit, so I was pretty happy to get motivated to flash a little synesthesia exercise out, that was fun. Looking forward to getting to you know you all a bit. I see lots of effort going into a good site here. Nice. And thanks.
Deirdre
edited to ask two questions:
When was this site formed?
What is mana?

Welcome, Deirdre.
I don't know when the site was formed, but I've been here for close to ten years--or it certainly seems that long. It is the brain-child of Paul Thain and under the auspices of The Internet Theatre Bookshop. Paul is the owner and Administrator. Paddy (also from Canada) and I are co-moderators.
Mana is what you give others or what others give you that turn those little thingies where it says "mana" green. I guess it's like getting a ribbon, a pat on the back or something special. Nobody bothers with it really, but I gave you some. :>)

Nice to have you here, Deirdre. There's lots of stuff to read and write, and lots of people to get to know.

Welcome Deirdre
You sound like you have a fabulous sense of humour.
Your life sounds SPECTACULAR (being from the desert myself) but I guess living with snow can be tedious at times.
I loved your comment about the crowbar being one of your favorite writing tools.
It made for an interesting image.
cheers ohdear

HI D,
I like the photo with your posts. It is very beautiful. It must be a Canadian Winter?
Reminds me of the Canadian Winter we had in 1978 in Ky. -- freaky weather patterns brought us the most beautiful, fine icey snow from Canada. It paralyzed the whole area. I had to drive through snow tunnels on the road to get to my horses to feed them, and I had to feed the whole herd because nobody else could make it out there.
I saw a UFO then -- at 2 a.m., above a tobacco barn. It was round and had turquoi9se blue lights going around the bottom in a figure 8. Life has never been the same since.

What a gorgeous image & story, thanks for that - never been to Kentucky but I've always imagined it as sort of magical.

You'll find lots of good advice here and tons of support and encouragment, as well as constructive criticism.
Plus you can read some terrific writing from members...that's always a treat.
