SALAAM THEATRE
Our mission is to celebrate artistic excellence through creative risk-taking and experimentation that challenges all boundaries, connects all peoples and links all forms of creative expression in the spirit of progressive solidarity. We do prefer to have plays written by or include characters from the South Asian diaspora.
Young and emerging writers as well as experienced and professional playwrights are encouraged to submit their work. You don't have to be South Asian to submit a play! It is encouraged that plays deal with either issues related to the South Asian subcontinent or South Asia in some literal or metaphorical way. If you feel your play doesn't exactly fit that bill but is only tangentially related to South Asia, submit anyway! REMEMBER: Scripts must be original, plays do not have to be contemporary and writers may submit more than one script.

THEATER BY THE BLIND
From sighted playwrights we prefer scripts with a blind character or blindness as a central theme, preferably from the point of view of the visually impaired character. If the writer is visually impaired there are no restrictions on content or style.
TBTB has developed several principal programs to achieve its mission to change the image of the blind from one of dependence to independence, to fight the stereotypes and misperceptions associated with blindness, and to show how vibrant, fluid and exuberant the visually impaired can be. Among them: developing visually impaired talent for theater, movies and TV; writing and developing original material revealing the world of the blind; touring to bring this material to as many people as possible; performing traditional material in a style to make it fully accessible to the blind; developing blind audiences; and integrating both the blind and the sighted in a shared aesthetic experience that bridges the gap between them.
The company exhibits an extraordinary range of productions with everything from Shakespeare's Hamlet and The Comedy Of Errors to Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians to Brecht's song filled Brecht On Brecht to the world premiere of Judd Woldin's Murder In Baker Street. TBTB has also created their own evenings of original work written by company members and fully produced by the company.
There is nothing too serious or too silly if it is a well-crafted script with strong roles for actors. With an ongoing writing workshop and developmental capabilities, we have the ability to develop projects appropriate to the company.

We only produce work we commission. We invite writers to participate in specific projects around common themes or ideas. We accept short manuscripts from writers as introductions to their writing. Selected writers will be invited to create a new short work for our company for a particular project.
Playwrights create best in seclusion. Plays should be as long as they should be.
We exist to create space for writers to experiment around common themes in an adventurous manner. We dedicate most of our earned income and contributed income to quality production. WOMEN’S THEATRE PROJECT, THE
The Through compelling theatre, The Women's Theatre Project creates an environment that explores the female voice. Spanning the generations, we are forging community partnerships to develop a legacy.
By Women, About Women and For Everyone
The Women's Theatre Project is the only professional theatre company in the country that is consistently producing theatrical works that are written and performed exclusively by women. Our theatre company is providing a truly unique cultural experience for South Florida audiences.
As we enter our fourth season of theatrical works written exclusively by women, The Women's Theatre Project continues to explore unique programming options. Our productions are compelling because our choices break with stereotypical portrayals of women seen in the media, on television and in movies. We solicit and receive materials for our readings from around the world, and our productions provide our audiences with encounters exploring the full diversity of the female voice. The theatre professionals involved in our productions span generations, since they range in age from 20 to 80, and reflect the broad scope of races and cultures present throughout South Florida.
In addition to main stage productions, we present staged readings in a format that allows our theatre company to continue pursuing our practice of "alternative casting" (casting women of diverse races who normally do not have the opportunity to perform certain roles). This practice ensures that our audiences can always identify with the women they see on stage.
The Women's Theatre Project receives funding from individual and corporate sponsors, Broward County Cultural Affairs and Funding Arts Broward! (FAB!).
Women's Theatre Project of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, The, produces plays by women, about women, for everyone. TWTP is seeking new full-length scripts with two or more characters by female playwrights. Female characters only. No musicals or children's scripts.

YORK THEATRE COMPANY, THE (NY)
Material: Musicals
Posted 9/6/07
The York Theatre Company’s Developmental Reading Series presents some 40 readings and workshops of new musicals by emerging and established authors throughout the year, free of charge to the public and the writers. These readings are a vital part of the writing process. Post-performance discussions are occasionally held with audiences. This series also serves as an incubator for shows to be considered for Mainstage production, thus serving the York’s unique mission of taking new musicals through the complete development process to full production.
Would you like to submit a show for inclusion in the Developmental Reading Series? Our mission here at York concerns musicals only; we do not accept submissions of plays. A completed script must be submitted, as well as a sound recording of at least most of the songs. If you’d like your materials returned, you must enclose a self-addressed, postage-paid envelope.
As we are one of the only theatres in the country which accepts unsolicited scripts, we receive around 400-500 scripts per year. We pride ourselves on properly evaluating each script, which takes time as we have a small staff and a loyal group of volunteer readers. It generally takes at least 6 to 12 months to get a script through our entire process.
Material should be submitted to:
