Meriwether Publishing, Ltd., plans another collection of contemporary monologues and scenes for young women for publication in Fall 2013 and I am inviting you to consider submitting materials. Volume 3 will focus on young women ages 13-25 and address "issues" appropriate for high school/college classroom discussion, performance or auditions. Submissions should also be "language sensitive" for classroom performance.

Monologues: Monologues should be 3-4 minutes in length and run 2 and l/2 to 3 pages in type. Monologues comic or tragic with three-dimensional characters and "action" oriented rather than "narrative" are highly desirable. Satirical monologues or those that feature eccentric characters in the age range indicated are rare and also highly desirable. Duo Scenes: Duo scenes (female/female or male/female) are also included in the new volume and should be 6-8 minutes in length and run 5 to 7 pages in type. Desired duo scenes may also be comic or tragic and "action" oriented rather than "narrative."

Deadline for submitting materials for priority consideration is 31 December 2012. You may email submissions (ratlifgl@potsdam.edu) or submit to the mailing address indicated below. Authors retain all copyright authority for granting non-exclusive reprint rights to the publisher and author copyright information is included with each published monologue or scene. A modest author honorarium and/or complimentary copy of the published volume is provided as well.

Please feel at liberty to share this call for submissions with your colleagues, playwright listservs and professional associations. Interested playwrights may wish to review the previous collected volumes at amazon.com to get a better sense of desirable submissions. Please don't hesitate to contact me in the next few months should you have any questions.

Cordially,
