(Four friends playing a board game, or something)
Doop: I'm going for the record books.
Neep: Really; what kind of record?
Doop: A climbing record...I have mountaineering in my blood.
Saal: Everest, Anna Purna?
Doop: Passe, they've been done before. My record will be much more illustrious.
Teek: K2, maybe?
Doop:(triumphantly) No, I'm going to be scaling the ten tallest hills in the world.
Neep: Huh, your joking?
Doop: Nope.
Saal: How will you distinguish between the two? You may end up scaling the ten smallest mountains.
Doop: Oh, no, one can easily tell the two apart. It's a feeling one gets. A mountain gives one a sense of grandeur and remoteness, while a hill conveys a kind of warmth and belonging.
Saal: Where will you begin. It isn't like there is a list somewhere?
Doop: I haven't figured that out yet. Google maps, perhaps. But a record wouldn't be worth it if it was easy, now would it?
Neep: I suppose not. It is an intriguing idea.
Teek: It is kind of enlightened, now that I think about it. A record that is elite, yet attainable by all.
Saal: Yes, the perfect rebuttal to a world gone mad with accomplishing the impossible. It makes scaling Everest...or even going in to space look ridiculous by comparison. Amazing!
(they all begin slapping Doop on the back, whooping and such)
Doop: Easy does it gang, I'm going to take it one hill at a time...now, isn't it my go?

"A mountain gives one a sense of grandeur and remoteness, while a hill conveys a kind of warmth and belonging."
Lovely. Absolutely lovely. And it is true.
We have both here in Colorado. Sometimes side by side. One can nestle in, look out and feel the grandeur, the warmth and belonging all at the same time.
Thank you.

Thanks, Edd. I gave myself 10 minutes to write it, but it took me 12. I am full of chastisement toward myself now.

There's very sweet kind of wackiness to this. Subtle. There, on the tip of your tongue.
Nicely done.
