I'm looking for a collaborator on a new musical comedy - "Blasphemy: The Musical". I have the book written and have been working on it for some time. I also have some tentative lyrics for the songs, but am really looking for a songwriter to come in and shape a good score. Here's a synopsis:

John Parker and his wife, Susan, have just inherited the home of their deceased uncle. The house is located in the utopian town of Heaven, Indiana, where spiritual leader Father O’Brien has discovered a lack of faith. He attempts to solve this problem by creating a machine which will make the townspeople into perfect Christians. Meanwhile, O’Brien has discovered a secret stash of religious artwork done by his uncle. As a way to produce funds for the machine, O’Brien convinces John to take credit for the art and put it on display for the world. Soon, all of Heaven witnesses the paintings, and rumors spread that John is the Second Coming of Jesus. To make matters worse is Lexington Cornpipe, an eccentric modern artist who is willing to kill to make sure no one steals his spotlight. Blasphemy! explores just how far people will go for their ticket to Heaven, and the consequences that follow.

Here's a list of characters:

JOHN PARKER – A young man in his late twenties who just gets by in life. He’s not strong, handsome, and brawny, but what he lacks in stature he makes up for in personality. He’s a good husband - an everyman whose only wish is to be noticed for what he is.

SUSAN PARKER – His kind and lovable wife. She is a bit more sensitive, although not afraid to take control of the relationship. She loves John, but they are past the typical musical comedy “love story”. This is the aftermath – a real life relationship that finds little time for romance. When it does, it is normally brought on by a glass or two of wine.

FATHER O’BRIEN – The charmingly manipulative spiritual leader of Heaven, Indiana. On one hand a kind priest with hopes of a better community, on the other a cunning snake looking for a victim. Depending on the actor playing him, he can be a young, handsome, and debonair man or an older, chubbier, but still charmingly creepy man.

SISTER SLEDGE – A sexy and flirtatious nun. She is the conductor of the Heaven, Indiana Choir, as well as Father O’Brien’s confidante and mistress. She represents the more sensual side of temptation, able to make any man melt with a glance or gesture - a young, skinny, blonde, busty bombshell.

LEXINGTON CORNPIPE – An eccentric modern artist and the most famous person in Heaven, Indiana. He’s an old bitchy queen who would gladly resort to murder to make sure he remains in the spotlight. If Captain Hook and Cruella de Ville had a son, that would be Lexington.

CONCORD – Lexington’s head butler and number one fan. He’s a bit of an oaf, but at the same time the most sympathetic of all the characters. Lexington’s companionship is very important to him, and he would not trade it for anything in the world.

LIPTON SUNBROOD – A religious nutcase. He’s a big smiling dork of a guy who considers himself to have been saved from a dark and unpleasant life. Now, his life is completely based around the Bible.

NESTEA SUNBROOD – His perky and Botox-happy wife. Both she and Lipton operate like robots who have been injected with coffee. An ex-stripper, she (like Lipton) has been saved.

ENSEMBLE – A company of 6 women and 3 men. 3 women play a choir of nuns and 3 men and 3 women play average townspeople. The 3 men also play butlers and 3 of the women play maids in Lexington’s mansion.

Hello

I was very interested to hear of your play - it sounds excellent! - and wondered if anything had come of it yet. If you are willing to try something a little different, I think I could provide a very interesting score. There are a couple of recent tracks on my new blog page: thepolishquarter.com. If you like what you hear, please send me a private message or post on this forum.

Cheers,

Lloyd

Hi, I am a baby boomer and a unpublished and unheard composer from the chicagoland area whos looking for a lyricist with whom to collaborate in the creation of a musical
and/or Pop, Rock, MOR, Christian or Film scores.

I have been writing songs/scores for over 20 years and have a accumulated a wealth of material and I have made a pledge, i.e., A Bucket List entry, to try do
something with this material before I get too old. :)  I have written all of this music on my own and I am really looking forward to collaborating with someone
who is gifted in lyric and play/story writing as I am not.

My major interest because many of the song melodies are very emotional and could tell a story is in musical theater.  I have a working title
for a new play many of the songs (with titles) and a basic story line but very few lyrics.  I also have songs as stated before in the Pop, Rock and MOR genre
and many I feel that would adapt to film scoring as well.  I love all Andrew Lloyd Webber plays and melodies (like everyone does) and of course Steven Sondheim
and the team that wrote "The Fantastiks", who I saw in a special on the Ovation channel that really interested me.  On the Pop/Rock front I like all music
Abba (A) to Led Zepplin (Z) and everything in between from 60s-2000s and of course love The Beatles, Stones and The Who (love Pete Townsends rock opera album ideas,
i.e., Tommy).  Also like country and rythmn and blues or just blues.

I am willing to travel anywhere to decide on a direction and begin working on a project of any kind cause I believe that is the best way to get the
ball rolling and then collaboration by Internet/phone is easy after that.

I can only play piano and cant sing so I just lay down what I hear as the vocal melody with some harmony on my piano and record into my pc to
create music lead sheets and mp3 files.  To get started I can send a couple of songs in mp3 format to give someone a feel if these songs are something they
would like to pursue.  Also most of the songs are in Intro, Verse, Bridge (sometimes) and Chorus format.

Thank you very much for the opportunity to post this and I look forward to moving forward on some project ASAP!
