Hello! I am based in the CT area. I am looking for someone to write the book for a musical that I have composed. The musical is set to premiere in April
The show is entitled "One Step Closer". It chronicles the relationship between a man and a woman as they meet once a year, each Christmas, over a seven-year period.
I am looking for a writer who is committed, who can be witty, and who comfortably writes dialogue from both a male and female perspective of a relationship. I am looking for someone who will not be afraid to be honest with opinions toward what I have written, and who will also accept constructive criticism. This job does not pay...yet. I am highly interested in sending the completed work to various festivals in NYC in the fall, as well as to various foundations who offer grants to playwrights and composers. Once completed, I am also interested in getting it published for theatres to produce.
My musical influences in the theatre world are: Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jonathan Larson, Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Hartmere and Intrabartolo, Bell and Bowen, Tom Kitt....I could go on.
Outside the world of theatre, I love Lady Gaga, classic rock, especially The Beatles and Pink Floyd, Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, A Tribe Called Quest, Tori Amos, etc.
