ASYLUM VOODOOSCAPE submitted to Colorado Stage Company.

The email can be found here, though I honestly forget where I found the details that they accepted scripts. Basically just query with the usual info (bio, 10 pages, etc) and that's what they want.

I'm still on day two, and I have e-mailed my one act, Does Hel Have Rockers to:

The International Centre for Women Playwrights
&

Flush Ink Productions
Celebrates International Women's Day with...
SHE SPEAKS

An evening of staged readings of Women's work.
Kitchener City Hall Council Chambers
Thursday March 6, 8pm

On March 6, as we did last year, we are going to do a night of women's readings.  We are looking for short plays - under fifteen minutes, or scenes from a longer play that sort of stand alone.  The plays must be written by women and  preference will be given to members of The International Centre for Women Playwrights (ICWP), and those committed to attending the readings, as we will have a Talk Back session following each act.

The readings will be Thursday, March 6, 8pm.  They will take place at the Kitchener City Hall's Council Chambers.  No one will be paid for this event, as it is a fund-raiser for ICWP and Anselma House (safe women's shelter).

The responsibility for casting and any rehearsing is up to the playwright.  Last year, we cast a few of the plays for the out of town playwrights, and they came in for one rehearsal.  We can do that again this year.

Some props, some staging, some costume, but books must be in hand.  It’s important the audience always know these are readings and not staged productions.  The show will be produced by myself and Catherine Frid, with help from Jenni Munday from Australia.

 Any questions?  playwright@skyedragon.com

Please say whether or not you'll be attending, and whether or not you are an ICWP member in your email. Please send submissions here - submissions@flushink.net  All plays must be received by Feb. 3 2008.

DAY 5 (1/19/08)

Emailed the script of Flowers out of Season to Samuel French.  I apologize for not being able to share any submission information.  You can get information about how to submit your script via snail mail at http://www.samuelfrench.com

Keep in mind that your plays need a production history and reviews for most publishers.  Don't let anyone convince you that reviews are not important.  They can mean the difference between getting published or not and they are a valuable marketing tool, in general.  Taking reviews seriously on a personal level can be maddening, but for the business side of show business, they are an asset.  And sometimes you've got to squeeze like hell to extract the positive from the negative.  I'm getting pretty good at that.  :>)

Day 6, and I just emailed "Make Me Famous, Now!" -- a short short play -- to At Hand Theatre for its POP fund-raiser. The info was in an email Gary Garrison sent to Loop subscribers, part of which follows:

At Hand Theatre is looking for you to help us out once again by being
involved in our Spring fundraising theatrical event POP! Last May many
of you were involved in POP! - a fantastic evening of theatre focusing
on new one act plays (peppered with dance, song and comedy). POP's
brief run was wildly successful. POP!: Riffs, rants and ramblings on
the current state of pop-cultural affairs was a fun, irreverent and
timely evening of theatre. Not to mention the proceeds of POP! helped
us to produce our first mainstage show last season.

If you would like to participate (and wewill love you forever for it)
please have a somewhat near to final piece (old or new) by FEBRUARY
1ST!!!

FURTHER GUIDELINES!!!!

- The rules are: There are no rules
- Length, style, etc are up to you. We want to you to give us whatever
you got, whether it be a short play, a song, a monologue, a sketch, poem or
a sentence.

To give you a spring board here is a list of possible topics (you are
by no means limited to these itmes!!!!)

Writer's Strike. The Oscars, Movie Musicals, iPhones, MySpace, Rosie O'Donnell,
SUV, Reality TV Shows, Second Life, Britney, Lindsey ...

and the list goes topically on.

The website is http://www.athandtheatre.com; scripts to be submitted to tyeblue@gmail.com.

DAY 7:

I submitted EVENSONG, a twenty minute play about a couple dealing with Alzheimer's, to the Academy Theatre.  I think I may have waisted postage since on re-inspection of the criteria there is a stipulation that says no use of cuss words including "hell" "damn" and the use of "God" as an exclamation.  That's too bad because I would have removed them, if any.  In most of my work I would laugh at the suggestion, but this play should be seen by family audiences.  Oh well.

Academy Theatre, GA, deadline 1/24, no fee
The Academy Theatre, the Southeast's longest continuously operating theatre, is seeking short scripts for presentation. Here are the guidelines for submission. Please: adhere to them. If you don't you'll be wasting the time and money you spent submitting.

1. Plays must be 18-23 minutes in running time, in one continuous scene; and need to be able to be done in a small space with no set or lighting, and minimal props. Previous productions are fine, but plays must be unpublished.
2. We prefer casts of 3 (2w, 1m or 2m, 1w only) but will consider casts of 2 (1w, 1m only) and 4 (2w, 2m only). No doubling. An offstage voice counts as a distinct cast member.
3. Please don't send a play that requires a race- or ethnic-specific character. All casting will be colorblind.
4. Scripts must be family friendly. Absolutely no profanity (that means no "hell"s or "damn"s) nor the use of "God" as an exclamation.
5. You may submit up to two plays if the second play can be done with exactly the same cast as the first. Otherwise, one play per playwright only. Submissions by snail-mail only. (Address below.)
6. Postmark deadline for submissions is January 24th. I know that's a short window; it's intentional.
7. There will be a royalty of $5 per performance. (I wish it could be more.) There will be one performance on Saturday, May 24th. There may be others as well, but we won't know until sometime in April.
8. Scripts may be bound, or you can save the price of the binder and staple it in the left hand corner.
9. Your cover page must include your name, mailing address and e-mail address.
10. All playwrights will be notified by e-mail by April 15th. If your script is accepted, we'll ask you to e-mail a copy.
11. Questions only (do not submit scripts to this address): academylatenights@yhaoo.com.
12. Mail scripts to: Evan Guilford-Blake, Attn: DAF, 4114 Rue Antoinette, Stone Mountain, GA 30083

4. Banyan Theater Company
5. Bay St. Louis Little Theatre

Above are listed the places I have submitted to. I am sorry, but again I am too bogged down to be able to post all the details. If you would like info on any of these, feel free to contact me and I will do my best to get them to you ASAP.

All of these I have generated through contacting the theatres first before submitting anything, so I can't really say 'Go submit to them' because I am not sure their contact info is even on their sites.

Day 8 (and 9)
Totally swamped with other stuff, so I am mailing two plays today to the same place (see below).  One will count for tomorrow's submission.  Sorry for cheating.  The plays I am sending are SAMSON AND DELILAH and CORNERED.  They are both so dark and heavy I really don't expect to ever see these 2 plays produced.  But, nothing ventured, nothing gained.  ~Edd
