Skin Deep my 25 Min satire went off to Electricpear Company today though I'm not sure that they'll accept submissions from writers unable to become involved in development work. We'll see if I get any reply and if so I'll keep you posted.

Morning all. I had an overnight reply from Electricpear accepting my submission.... no that doesn't mean a production just that they're prepared to look so it would seem that they don't confine themselves to writers able to work collaborately with them.
Very professional and only the second acknowledgement of an esubmission that I've had.

Not for me but I saw this and I'm passing it on.
The Brian Way award for writers for young people worth 6,000 pounds. The writer must be UK or Irish or have had an association with an UK theatre company. Plays have to be directed at young people up to the age of 18 and be at least 45 minutes long and they must have had a production in the last year Applications to Theatre Centre Shoreditch Town Hall 380 Old St London ECIV9Lt.

Well, I wasn't sure if I had sent them anything. But yes, indeed, I aleady sent them "The Satchel." Too bad, b/c "Remembering" is, I believe, a stronger play. But hey, there's always next year. :) (And you never know what a festival will like, anyway, of course.

...trying to do my part here. Check out: http://www.overourheadplayers.org/
for "Snowdance - 10 minute play festival" in Racine WI
They are looking strictly for comedies.
There's no way I can keep up w/30 days but I have submitted to LakeShore, Heartland (actually a new play), and I sent "...Emily Dickinson" to a couple of others....

Okay, this is for anyone who is writing for large casts... particularly large casts of younger people. Charles Sturt University here in Wagga has a Performing Arts Course They're interested, particularly interested in new work for young actors. Casts of up to thirteen or more are welcome. Smaller casts mean that they have to divide the classes still further and look for more plays.
Yes Of course they pay royalties for anything produced and having spoken to David Wicks who coordinates the course they're happy to take email submissions. The address is dwicks@csu.edu.au

Has anyone tried to send anything to MiniFest in Toronto recently? I was able to send plays before, but I wanted to send "Remembering," and it was returned. I sent it to this address:
<english-owner@acadiau.ca>
It said their spam filter blocked it, but it took my email before, so I don't understand it...

Day #7
I've taken on the alphabetized ongoing opps. listed on this board, and am moving from z through a. Here were the first two suitable opps:
1. "Escalator", my drama about family tragedy, the universe, and home improvement, to--Tobacco Bar Theatre Company
Deadline: none declared
We produce exclusively new plays in development, and New York premieres. We have no specific guidelines for what we will and will not produce, but all of our shows do have a common thread - they ask big
questions in an intriguing, thought-provoking way.
Seeking one-act plays, full-length plays, ten-minute plays; send full script. No payment to writer.
Joe LaRue, Artistic Director

New York, NY 10003

917-734-2694
212-327-7414 (fax)
2. "Not What Not to Wear", my caffeinated spoof of fashion makeover shows, to--STRAY DAWG THEATRE CO.
We are a new theatre company in Northern Ireland with 2 extremely successful productions behind us. We are looking for submissions from non-UK-based playwrights. Genre is unimportant but plays must be for small-scale theatre, and must never have been performed in Ireland before.
Email: straydawg.tc@ntlworld.com
All submissions will receive a reply. Thanks! —Karen

| I sent "Remembering" to Tobacco Bar Theatre Company (via email, but said I would be happy to submit by postal mail if he would prefer, and thank you for the info). I noticed that they do a summer shorts festival (just missed it, bummer), and that Aoise Stratford, one of the binge listserv members, had a full-length play produced there a few years ago, so hopefully they are a good company to work with and will consider new works (I am not sure this piece is edgy enough, but oh, well, we'll see). I also did get "Remembering" out to MiniFest, so I guess it was received (I have yet to get any kind of confirmation from any of my submissions, but that is not a new thing).

Hey Edd and company,
I promised I was going to participate, but I've had the flu since the 15th and am just now starting to feel like a real person again, though I am still coughing far far far too much. I am sick of feeling sick.
If I remember correctly, I could miss a few days and just spend extra time catching up later. Obviously that's what I'm going to have to do.
Despite my illness, I do have good news: looks like another of my plays is going to be produced Off-Broadway in the spring! I also have a meeting with an agent, but I guess that's not going to count as a submission, eh?
Keep on submitting! I'll be playing catch up once I feel wholly human again.
Warm regards from a cold-ridden bed,
Randall David

DAY #8
Today I sent The Moon Away to Theatre Out via email. Moon recently closed in Boston. Theatre Out produces plays by and about the GLTB community.
SYNOPSIS:
3M/1W (cast doubles), Single Abstract Set, 2 Acts, Full Length.
Based on an actual incident, this powerful and intense drama takes place between September 1984 and April 1985. Joe, a photographer in southern New Mexico while grappling with his identity as a gay man, is suddenly thrown into a nightmare world when he is wrongly accused of criminal sexual contact with a minor. The story follows seven months of his life as he struggles to overcome his obstacles. Dream sequences and flashbacks take the audience on a surreal journey through the nightmare world of the inner-self and the hostile environment in which Joe finds himself.

Days 8 and 9:
Sent my 10-minute play "Look Mom, I Got a Job!" to both Shelterbelt and TheatreRats (info already posted here). Also working on putting together some packets for snail-mail submissions (several deadlines coming up soon, including Lakeshore Players).
Many thanks to everyone for posting all these opportunities. I've learned of many on this thread that I don't think I would have run across otherwise.

just a quick good luck to everyone!
Sorry I couldn't join in for this one - been plugging my novel to publishers + agents so my "opps" haven't really been all that applicable.
All the plays look great though, looking forward to reading the results of the spree

Day 8 already? I tend not to submit on weekends so do the "clump" afterwards ... only this pesky thing called "work" came up - a lot. So catching up: (With thanks to so many because I thought I had run out of places to send plays!)
NIC: Thanks for the heads-up on a place for large-cast youth plays. David Wicks at Charles Stuart University - runs a youth performers workshop and needs lastrge-cast plays for young people. Sent them CAST AWAY IN TIME. Newly edited. Can e-mail at:
dwicks@csu.edu.au
NINANINA: Thanks for this: Spotted Dog Productions in Laramie, WY - looking for one acts and ten-minutes and shorter. For one-acts would like 2-3 performers and a comedy. The submissions are ongoing and I keep meaning to send to them ... and never have. So, today, THE LAST FAIRY was e-mailed to:
blissbragsdale@hotmail.com
Long shot of the day: And thanks to Edd: Fourth Wall Productions. They have a play submission button on their website. They like timely and "now" and my play is both -but uses mostly (teen) youth performers. Still, you never know.
http://www.fourthwallproductions.com
and also sent it to (also from Edd) 7th Sign
http://www.7thsign.info/submission.htm
e-mail: mail@7thsign.info
Many thanks all. It looks like the spree is growing!

Morning Claudia, Glad you sent something off to David. I don't write for large casts and he's told me that if he can get a relatively large cast play he could be interested in one of my smaller cast plays.
This morning I've sent a query and a synopsis to the Bruiser Theatre Company in Ireland. Don't know whether or not they're accepting submissions it's a shot in the dark but if I get a reply I'll keep you posted.

One of those theatre's the Oregon Children's Theatre in Portland Oregon told me to send it. So that play script went out this morning, before I ever got to work.

Day #9:
Last night, I did my submission for today. It was "Not What Not to Wear", my 10-minute comedy spoofing fashion makeover shows. I sent it off to Fourth Wall Productions, a source mentioned earlier in this string. They wrote me an extremely kind acknowledgement note today which, while it's no production, is the closest thing I've had to one for a bit, so I'll take what I can get.

Greetings again - I'm playing catch-up. From the wealth of opportunities for one-acts on Sue B's awesome
http://p202.ezboard.com/benavantplaywrights
I made three more submissions of my old workhorse Moving to Switzerland:
(1) - Theater Coop in NY (theatercoopny@aol.com) the only information I have is the posting on ez board above and it's pretty thin on the ground.
(2) Risingphoenixtheaterco@yahoo.com - again from the same site
(3) Also I have joined the Canadian migration to Acadia U's 2007 Minifest as previously posted - submissions to english@acadiau.ca
So now I have made 8 submissions and am only behind by two. Can you believe what a girl scout I am about this?
The sun is out in London today.
Best from your SWANN

Days 10 and 11:
Sent "Look Mom, I Got a Job!" to the Tobacco Bar Theatre Company, Lakeshore Players, and the National Ten-Minute contest put on by the Actors Theatre of Louisville. I'm also putting together submission for this same piece to Chameleon Theatre Circle (another group in my area), the Snowdance 10-minute play festival, and the Stratton Players, which should bring me up to about the half-way point. I'm also sifting through the ongoing opportunities posted elsewhere in the forum looking for good fits.
I'm crossing my fingers for some of these festivals in my area; it'd be an especially nice bonus to be accepted by a festival I can go see!

My pleasure! However, this is Kathleen Warnock's site, not mine. I am just her humble messenger! :)
I sent one more submission, Wednesdays, to "8 in 48." The information is on the En Avant website (I may have posted it earlier), under 10-minute plays:
http://p202.ezboard.com/fenavantplaywrightsfrm31
I wish I had written both Wednesday and Remembering earlier, but they have been submitted to three or four places each to date, and there's always next year, of course! And I am still looking for the address for Fourth Wall Productions. NinaNina, if you're reading, could you supply this, please?
BTW, I just got rejected from Towne Street Theatre. As with the Binge Listserv, if anyone gets an acceptance, it would be great to know about it, so please post it here (if that's okay with you, Edd).
Cheers from sunny but cold Boston.

DAY ELEVEN
Greetings from London.
Irrelevant Anecdote
My son who is two and a half asked me last night if he could call me "Rox" instead of "Mommy". My name is Rachel, so the genesis of this request is obscure. The best possible interpretation of this is that he means "Rocks", as in his Mommy rocks, the worst possible is that he's a little odd. I can live with either.
Submission
Tobacco bar as per earlier posts: http://www.tobaccobar.com; joe@tobaccobar.com
Otherwise Unknown Efforts
Following on yesterday's girlscout theme, I spent part of the afternoon yesterday trolling for one act play submission opportunities that we hadn't come across before. It came to nothing.
Weather
Cold and rainy.
Best from

Well, it's hard to know what to send them. I'm not sure I have anything experimentatl enough. Maybe I'll send them my one act, Uncharted Territory, b/c you can sort of do anything with it. :) Thanks for the posting.
If I hear back from Matthew at Fourth Wall, I'll let you know.
Forecast for Boston: Sunny and cool today, horrifically rainy and windy tomorrow, just in time for a cousin's big-deal engagement party (substituting for the wedding for those who can't travel to Colorado). So it goes...

Sue B, that made me laugh. I don't really have anything that alternavite in my portfolio either. Wait a minute. . . maybe . . . the typos are what makes them progressive

See, you jinxed me. ;-) (That and writing without enough sleep. Heehee.) I will send "Uncharted Territory" without any typos.
*damn you, lack of spell check*

| I didn't submit by e-mail yesterday or today, but I did submit. Yesterday, after getting an affirmative answer to my query, I sent Betwixt and Betwain to the Dallas Children's Theatre. Today I submitted my play, Billy Sundae to the Lark Play Development Center (NY, NY).

I heard back from Matthew at Fourth Wall.
NICEST.GUY.EVER (after Edd, of course :-)). And of course, he's like 24 years old. :-P

Anyone besides Edd and me submit to TBD Productions? I had emailed them a one-act (I hope they got it--it didn't bounce back), and wondered if anyone had heard from them. I am not sure I have a 10-minute play that would be *striking* enough for them. And no, I'm not being self-deprecating. :)
