I attended "Playwright's Night" last night at  Asheville Community Theatre (Asheville, NC) and was thoroughly entertained by Gary Carden's autobiographical play, "The Raindrop Waltz."

It has been nearly two decades since Gary wrote this play and the first time his work has been accepted for production by ACT even though he has been celebrated throughout the region as a playwright and storyteller for some while.

Gary's ability to present mountain folks in their native state jumps off the pages of his writings and into our hearts.  This author is truly a treasure here in the North Carolina mountains.

"The Raindrop Waltz," by Gary Cardin will be performed by Asheville Community Theatre in their black-box, "35 Below" Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings through the remainder of April, 2007.

Respectfully submitted - Sam Stone
