"Michael Clayton."

Starring George Clooney with Tom Wilkinson. If it is a Clooney movie, you are almost always going to see great acting from top to bottom.

Based on a book by Cormac McCarthy. (EDIT - wrong info, see J. Brian Long below! in media res)

'nuff said.

P.S. If you loved "The Lives of Others," which won Best Foreign Motion Picture last year, you may very well love "Michael Clayton." George Clooney: an actor and director and human being with a spine and guts.

in media res,

On which book of McCarthy's is this film based? I am an admirer of some of

McCarthy's works (my paternal grandfather is mentioned in "Suttree"; McCarthy

and he knew one another), though I haven't read all of his books (some of them

just don't work for me; I enjoy his "literary" stuff much, much more than his

mainstream novels). The book you mention must be one I haven't read. Which

one is it?

J.Brian,

OOOps!

I was totally wrong. I was so non-functional after seeing the movie, I now realize the trailer for the Coen Brother's new movie which appeared just before Michael Clayton, which IS based on the McCarthy novel, "No Country for Old Men." Those Coen Brothers are sure sneaky how they can make things stick in your mind!!! Terrific movie duo!

Tony Gilroy was the writer/director. His brother, John Gilroy, was the editor. And their father is Frank D. Gilroy, the playwright/writer, "The Subject Was Roses." (Information taken from IMDB.com)

All credit goes to Tony Gilroy! Thank, Mr. Gilroy for a great movie.

But I'll leave the original post as penance so I can live with the scourge and scar of my mistake!!

Thanks,

best,
