swann,
No matter how briefly/intermittently you are able to appear here it is always refreshing and insightful and a true joy to have you. Your reports from Edinburgh are always filled with astute observations while carefully intermingling critique and dramaturgy. Most importantly, they are fun to read.
I want to quote one of your observations of one person shows for all playwrights on The Forum:
"I hate it when people do one-man shows and in telling stories of their lives they expose so graphically their failings as a human beings but they have no idea they are doing it. One sees so clearly the limitations of the person - their degree of self-knowledge -- in these one hour comedy shows. And it is awful. I think the guy's name was (Please note Swann and all, I left out his name out of a sense of charity and as a public service - IMR) but it's not worth a Google. His observations were not at all insightful nor were they funny. I felt sorry for him but you know something? He has my eleven pounds to comfort him."
Thanks as always,
My very best,
