got mail from these folks, saying they've selected my decidedly bizarre 10 minute piece titled 'A Dead Soldier in the Family' for their Red vs. Blue: Summer Shorts XI.

a little wary at the $30 membership requirement - but they did mention this up front, and sent emails out advising that if submisions got selected, there'd be this 'membership' fee.. so perhaps its just my own grumpiness at paying anything - even tho they're saying they want to do it.

Usually, on principle, I don't submit to anything requiring a fee - unless its some truly huge potential prize (money or major credibility). it seems though that this fee/membership thing is something thats relatively new for this group, so perhaps its okay..?

Any thoughts from forumites?

In other news, been having sporadic contact from the Living Theatre in NY, who want to do a reading of my 'Dogs of the Blue Gods' play.. May 6 was mentioned, but I dont see anything on their website, and haven't heard what time - and given the distance I am from NY, debating whether to schlep all the way down there for it..

Ian,

Nothing was mentioned about "joining" in the original post, which I found here: http://emerging.freewebspace.com/PlaywritingCompetitions/Playwriting_Contests_May.htm

Why would you pay to "join" a community theratre in Orland, Florida? It's a long way to go for a ten minnute play.

I'm sorry.

Now, Living Theatre, in NYC! That's interesting.  Nibbles do lead to bites.  Please post dates and times when you have them.

Best.

re Living Theatre, apparently email notices went out - and its happening tomorrow night (May 6th) at 8pm

@ The Living Theatre, 21 Clinton St. New York, New York 10002

kind of short notice though, darn it.. still, its happening, for any folks in forum, in the area - who'd be interested in seeing a reading of this one-act play. Runs about 40-50 minutes max, depending on how they read it..
see the other new topic for the play info:

------------update
Having done some research on the Living Theatre, and seeing that they're clearly as
'political' and 'avant garde' as I tend to be, how can I not go? So I'm making an effort, and will be there this evening..
