Fellow Dramatists,
At long last, my second full-lenght play is now complete, and of this past Friday it is in the hands of the artistic committee of a local theatre! I thought I would have finished  this play before 2007 was over, but it turned out that it still needed qutie a bit of re-writing before it was finished. BUT, last week I finally printed out the final version of the play and submitted it to a theatre here, and a friend of mine in California is sending a copy on to a theatre artistic director in Los Angeles for me too! The theatre here already has the play, and is reviewing it (this is the same theatre that loved my last play) and as soon as the artisitc director from LA gets back from NYC she will be given a copy of my play as well. This play is VERY different from the romantic comedy I sumbitted to the theatre here back in September. This one is quite a serious drama (though interwoven with humor.) I doubt they'll be expecting something quite like this play from me after reading that first one. It will be interesting to hear their response. Anyway, just thought I'd share that I FINALLY finished my second play and it is out there being reviewed! Wish me luck!

Thanks, DW and Paddy!

I will let the group know when I hear anything back from the theatres! It does feel very good to have finished and submitted two plays since September of last year. It's been a very productive 6 months for me!

Thanks!

I heard back from a person on the artistic committee for one of the theatres I sent the new play to! She gave me very positive feedback. She said she was passing along the play to the next person in the committee and she had a feeling they would like it too. Though she did say she preferred the first play I sent them (back in September) because she likes comedy better than drama. (The new play is a drama interwoven with comedy, but basically a drama.) She said they really want to do a staged reading of my comedy this upcoming season! Yay!

Hi Potabasil,
Yes, I completed two plays since September, and now both are submitted to theatres! I am working on a new one now...Hope to get this one knocked out by May. So, sorry, can't finish your play for you, too busy working on a new one of my own. Thanks for the Congrats! I appreciate your support - and everyone else who has replied in this thread too!

Potabasil,
You must do what they told me to do at the writers' conference I attended yesterday and the day before. Sit down and WRITE. That is all there is to do. That is what I am doing. It is the only way to get a play completed. You just have to do it! Keep us posted on your progress!
