My trio of ghost plays "Dead of Winter" opened Friday to a sold-out house in Portland, and audience reactions to both Friday's and Saturday's shows (and Thursday's invited preview) were extremely positive, and I heard some great comments. Plus we made 'em jump a couple times. Heh. No reviews yet, but I think we've definitely got good word-of-mouth.
Just today saw Conor McPherson's "Shining City" at the Goodman in an excellent production, and there was a rise in that one too, about ghosts. He seems to like ghosty things.
You should read Mick Somatosis' "Final Play" on the Forum. Ghosts there as well.
Thanks, folks. It's funny you mention "Shining City" because it's currently playing in Portland at Third Rail Repertory. Another local theatre is doing Shanley's "Where's My Money," which has a supernatural aspect, and next month another Portland theatre is opening "Scotland Road," which, again, has a paranormal theme at work. A trend? At least in Portland.
