i just got an offer from a publisher for one of my scripts - a contract plus they are offering "a $500 advance on royalties earned."

altho i've had other scripts published by this publisher (& others as well), this is the first time i've ever been offered an advance.

does anyone know if this is a good deal?  (i know it sounds good but is there some loophole i'm not seeing?)  should i stick with the usual deal of being paid twice yearly?

thanks!

A $500 advance against royalties is the norm.  That is the standard deal with most major publishers. There are no loop holes.  Quite customary.  Take the deal.  CONGRATULATIONS!

Twice yearly?  That's terrific.  I only get paid once yearly.
