|Ex Libris Theatre Company, NY, ongoing, no fee
Play and chamber musical submissions are sought by Ex Libris Theatre Company for our fall 2010 developmental reading series.
Our newly formed company aims to present new, exciting works by emerging and recently-emerged writers. Wherever possible, we encourage submissions inspired or influenced by great works of the past (though this is by no means a requirement for selection).
Most essential are a distinctive voice, a desire to grapple with playwriting forms, and a willingness to work with our company as we seek to develop your work.
Selected plays will be presented in reading form (basic staging is occasionally possible). Our aim, through this initial series of readings, is to find exciting new works to develop further.
If submitting a play, please send a full script to firstname.lastname@example.org in PDF or Word formats along with a brief cover letter regarding your goals for the piece. Feel free to include a brief synopsis, but this is not required.
Submissions of small-cast musicals are also sought. Any musicals submitted must feature a cast size of six or fewer and be able to be presented in a chamber setting with minimal orchestrations. Two-, three-, and four-person musicals with a quirky, innovative edge (a la “The Last Five Years,” “Jon and Jen,” “[title of show]” and “tick, tick…BOOM!” are encouraged). We’re looking for the next big thing in small musicals.
If submitting a musical, please include a full script along with up to 4 songs in .mp3 format (the files may be zipped). Materials can be submitted to email@example.com.
