David, I have never used an outline in my life. For me, it gets in my way. I trust my subconscious to show me the way, and my characters, of course. It's an organic approach for me. I don't understand it and I don't recommend it. I'm strange. As for how do you know when a concept is a poor one: when you can't do anything with it, I suppose. David, both your questions seem subjective to me—only you know the answer to both of them. BUT, thanks to your questions, you may have helped other playwrights here to know they are not alone in their concerns. Best, Edd
