hi all, i'm going to see my favorite TOQ and miss cj in just a few weeks when i go to the mile high city for work. i'm gonna try to suss out why mr edd has not returned, as well as poke miss cj to come and play in our nice sandbox.
if there are any messages you'd like me to pass along, just say so...
Please tell edd he is severely and dearly missed. And I was looking forward to the second installment of his autobiography.
And I can not remember whether I had previously recommended to him the movie, "The Chorus," a joyous French film. We had both recommended some good flicks to each other.
Give him my very best,

An email to Edd (we had a bit of a falling out and I was trying to build a bridge, much after the fact) has resulted in automatically generated replies that say, essentially, that he's off the internet.
fwiw, deepak, i'm in email contact with edd ... just heard from him today ... he's feeling lots better and has lost some serious weight! he even said he is now the "not-so-TOQ". :)
we're scheduled to have supper together ... edd, ron, cj, and her guy (sorry, i'm blanking on his name). if i can coax them into it, maybe i'll get a photo just to prove they're both still kicking!
and yes, i'll try to get them to come back. i sorely miss them both.
our supper is a couple of weeks from now, so watch this space for more info in a bit.
mac
ps: i really am going to deliver all of your messages to edd (and cj, though we have so many new people here that i know some of you don't know her)
i'm back from denver where i spent an absolutely delightful evening with edd, ron (edd's partner), cj, and david (cj's partner). we ate, laughed, talked, debated, and generally threw caution to the wind. in person, edd isn't who i expected him to be ... he was so gracious and kind (which i already knew from the forum), but he was also pee-your-pants funny.
i don't know if/when he'll be back to the forum, but i did make sure to pass along all of the kind words from you good folk. he was truly touched that he was missed.
i also worked on cj, trying to get her to come back to the forum. i'm going to keep at it with both of them.
both edd and cj said to pass along their greetings to all of you, and to say that they love and miss you all. (cj was particularly touched that some of you remember her from so long ago)
imr, TOQ = Tired Old Queen ... a name edd gave himself years ago (we figured out that we've "known" one another for more than five years, even though this is the first time we'd met in person ... which means i've "known" paddy for the same amount of time ... wow!)
for those who were wondering, here is a recounting of our menu ... and yes, it tasted just as amazing as it sounds:
Vegetariano Italiano
Antipasto:
Baked Zucchini Strips
Bruschetta
Mozzarella e Parmesan “crackers”
Insalata:
Escarole e Cannellini fagioli
Pomodori con mozzarella e olive
Zuppa:
Stracciatella alla Romana
Secundo:
Sicilian Pesto Lasagna
Risotto al Salto
Polenta fritta
Verdura:
Finocchi a Parmigiano
Dessert:
Crostata di Ricotta
so edd and cj, if you're watching this is stealth mode, i reiterate here: PLEASE COME BACK! WE MISS YOU!
I was there for Ed's lovely evening the Saturday before last and had a wonderful conversation w/ Mac and mine's mutual friend Edward Crosby Welles, our gracious host, touching on the topic of the theologian S.t Augustine & Plato, and I was wondering if Mac would be game to address her arguments for her implicit belief in theologic Platonic ideals v. an anti-Augustinian position (such as mine) for the mutual benifit and entertainment of us both, & whosoever would like to reply.
Anyho. . . It of course was loverly to see you Mac,!!! and Paddy luv. . .your prresence was sorely missed! And the food, wine and conversation at Chez Edd&Ron was Devineeeeeeee!
Mac darling, As far as Augustine and Plato et. al. It really was a shame we had to drop you at the hotel just as the conversation was heating up! But of course, I know you had all those Furries in bondage gear to wade through! You know Mac, I am begining to wonder if perhaps the "Library" conference was just a cover and you are actually Yiffy! Maybe Mr. Harvey was there?! Does he ever visit the Forum anymore? I was telling mr. S how fun it was to play with him in the sandbox. . .Gordon hunting. . .yakking on about Elaine Stritch. . .sigh. . .those were the days!
you're both most kind. david, as long as i'm more awake than i was that night, i'm always up for a discussion. and i think you might find a number of others in the sandbox who would love to join in.
i'm a little overwhelmed by my "real" life at the moment, so i'm scarce in these parts. but start it up and i'll jump in as i can.
yes, miss cj, it was absolutely devine! i can't wait until we can do it again sometime...
and miss paddy, you were there in spirit. we talked about you enough that your nose should have been itching up a storm. :) it was all good.
funny though ... now miss cj is the only one of us who has met all three of the others of us (edd, paddy, and me). i've now managed to meet edd (the delight of which still has not worn off!).
cj, i wonder ... could you imagine the conversation that could be had were all four of us in the same room? now that could be an interesting play!!!!
mac
ps: cj, i'm wounded that you would let my furry little secret out of the bag!!!!! librarian conference indeed! :D
