I won a bowl of the most brilliant, sensually textured and heart attack inducing and unforgettable Clam Chowder on a first time visit to a wonderful seafood restaurant last week. They apparently have a quiz on the blackboard every night. (The owner is a theatre/novel lover.) The quote was: "Off with his head!" from a play. I was the only one who had won till that time. (9pm)

This proves there is practical value to studying the arts!

The chowder was as memorable in the canon of my seafood restaurant meals as the Lobster Salad I had at a little resturaunt in New London, CT several years ago.

best,

Which restaurant in New London? You know, this past summer saw New London as a little booming place to go and be seen. There are some remarkable restaurants that have opened in the past few years along with the galleries. New London has become the hip nightspot destination. Sizzle.

katoagogo,

Not sure. It was four or five years ago. I could see the start of the interest in new London then. Hope it revitalizes but does not get ruined with chain stores and restauarants.. If it comes to me I'll let you know. But I remember it was on the main narrow street and the owner had his own lobster boat during the day and was the chef at night.

Peeked through the windows of Monte Cristo and also saw a great jazz group in one of the older restaurant's in an old hotel.

best,

I lived in New London after getting out of the navy where I was stationed across the river in Groton.  I loved New London, but I am certain I wouldn't recognize it now.

So I guessed "Off with his head" was from Alice and Wonderland, but Google tells me that the head referenced belonged to York.  What was your answer, in media res?  It must be in many plays.

edd,

Yes, someone guessed Alice in Wonderland, but it was play, not novel specific. Those were the rules.

And the answer is....Richard III

A couple of my Coast Guard friends were stationed there. It seemed to be agreed upon by the Coast Guard that Lake Superior is the worst of our waters to navigate when they get tempremental.
