Since I'm only around from time to time and no longer an active moderator, I haven't been able to keep this noticeboard up to date. You cannot imagine the countless hours of work it took to create these lists, so please continue to make use of them.
SO HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR YOU:
*Go through the open deadlines on this noticeboard. Many to most of them should still be relevant. Visit their website or send them an email to be certain.
*Go through the month by month deadlines. Chances are that the theatres calling for scripts last year or the year before are still looking this year and around the same time. Visit their website or send them an email to find out.
*Go through all the list of links to links. Many should still be working. You can find hundreds of opportunities there. This is one of my favorites: http://p202.ezboard.com/benavantplaywrights Kathleen Warnock created and maintains this site and does a tremendous job.
Edd, as some one who lives on the other side of the world where opportunities are very limited I've long wanted to thank you and the members of this board who are so generous in posting the opportunities they hear about. Yes I get work done here in Australia but knowing that there are opportunities further afield keeps me writing. To all of you a heart felt thanks
I got to thinking today about the first neighborhood we lived in when first coming to Denver twenty years ago. We were talking about a postal/packaging store, my mate and I, on the corner about a block from our apartment and wondering if it was still there in the old neighborhood. It was a place I visited frequently to send out typewriter generated scripts.
The only leads I had in those days were from the DGA. They didn't have a magazine then, only a monthly newsletter. I knew of nowhere else to go. I guess there were computers back then, but I didn't have one and it would be years more before I would. And when I did get one, it would be even more years before going online. Now we can surf this great web of information and get our plays out all over the world. The latest and greatest development is that more and more theatres are accepting our scripts via email. What a wonderful world we playwrights now live in.
What a wonderful world we live in where we playwrights can come together and support one another and deliver each of us from the isolation of working in the pre-computer darkness. Having gone through that isolation, having never known another playwright for years, having had not enough self-esteem to even call myself a playwright, it is a joy now to be part of a world-wide community. It is liberating.
When we had our little "submission sprees" you were encouraged to share the opportunities and all the information you could gather about them to help others with their submissions. In doing so we created a larger base of information that was helpful--not only to ourselves--but also to our fellow members who didn't participate. What was important, really important, was that we were playwrights helping playwrights. It is empowering to care.
What I want to impart from all this rambling is that no one will help us but each other--that is our selves. We have all chosen, to one degree or another, to apply our lives and talents to the craft, and sometimes Art, of playwriting. We have that in common. My challenge to each and every one of you is to post every opportunity you come across for the benefit of your fellow playwrights. Start a chain reaction. Be grateful for having a place in cyber space to come and commune with other playwrights. Help each and all of us along the road by sharing. Share those opportunities and thereby show us your love.
We should thank Edd and anyone who goes to the trouble of posting Opportunities for submissions to the site more often.
I'm sure it's hard work finding them, then posting them, especially when it's not a direct link and He/They have to actually type in all the information for us to send off our plays.
I'm late in commenting, but I've made tremendous use of the 'links to links to links' (some of which I've begun sharing on the Opportunities for Playwrights board) and I'm very grateful for them. Cheers.
I'm about 2000miles due South of you at the moment but I'm in Denver (Boulder) for New Years until the 6th Jan.
Any suggestions in case I get a chance to get a Theatre fix?
BTW I add my thanks to you for the work you've put in to provide various links etc. I've used several and look each day in case there are any new ones posted. You're a lifeline to those of us located in more remote places. Thanks again.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the time to add to the opps and links. I've just finished 3 full-lengths I've been working on for years and have begun another full-length about 10 Williams' sister. Edd--Here's a new submission opp for CT playwrights-i don't know where to upload this info: (sorry that it's limited to CT(Connecticut) playwrights for now. We're a small, but have successful shows, theatre group trying to give new playwrights a chance at a staged reading.
