Hi all. I live in Hell's Kitchen and am itching to start working on a musical theater project. I have a couple of ideas...both at the embryonic stage. And I'd really like to find a kick-ass writing partner.
A bit about me. I was a classical pianist as a kid...moved to NYC and signed a publishing deal with Sony in the late '90s as a pop songwriter. For the past few years, I worked as a producer in the (slightly insane) world of Internet TV. I oversaw tons of content and honed my writing skills, supplying snappy copy for the entire service...and worked my way up to Executive Producer.
I'd really like to create a funny, well-written piece of theater with strong songs. I've got the luxury of time right now...and am casting a net to see if I can find a like-minded guy or gal to work with.
As I mentioned in the header, the score of Cabaret, the humor of Tina Fey and the overall arc/script/songs of Avenue Q are all touchstones for me. Musically, I like so many different things that it's hard to list them all. Aside from theater-oriented tunes, I love current indie rock/pop, vintage '70s and '80s new wave and classic vocalists like Peggy Lee, Blossom Dearie and Sarah Vaughan. And a lot in between!
Maybe this will resonate with the right person! Thanks.
Firstly I'm a huge Avenue Q fan and am looking forward to getting Book Of Mormon in the West End next year (fingers crossed!)
I've just joined this forum to seek likeminded people to work on new musical theatre projects. My first musical Heaven Sent has just been produced in London at the New Wimbledon Theatre and I'm now keen to start work on a new project with a new collaborator and like you have a few ideas in the "embryonic" stage.
Feel free to take a look at my production company website http://www.hiddentalent.org.uk and if you're interested in chatting online at some point feel free to get in touch.
