The Roundabout Theater's production of "The Importance of Being Earnest" was filmed on HD and has been showing around the country. If it plays near you, GO.
It was a brilliant performance, very funny and full of life. WIlde's dialog sounded fresh, without any mannerisms or stiffness. I laughed my *ss off. Brian Bedford as Lady Bracknell was wonderful.
I was first to post the notice about this as a friend of mine is involved with the Broadway production.
I wrote down on my calendar so my wife and I could attend.
When the date came to attend, I went online just to make sure of the time.
WELL, DAMNED BE ALL! THE THEATRE CHANGED THE SCHEDULING DATE AND RAN IT THE WEEK PRIOR! Now I have to wait for the DVD. I have friends who have seen the Broadway production and adored it.
Bedford is just an all time favorite of mine and a true treasure in the theatre.
I specifically remember when that show was playing at my local theatre a few years ago. Turning down the offer to see it is one of the biggest regrets of my life.
