KHAOS COMPANY THEATRE
CALLS FOR PLAYWRIGHT SUBMISSIONS
FOR NEW FULL LENGTH PLAYS FOR THE
2018 DIONYSIA NEW PLAY COMPETITION

DEADLINE THURSDAY FEBRUARY 1ST 9PM 2018

Indiana Playwrights are invited to submit five page excerpts of full length plays to be performed at the Dionysia New Play Competition 2018. The winning playwright will have their full-length play produced during Khaos Company Theatre’s (KCT) 2019 Season and get a free 2019 Season Pass to KCT’s shows.

Up to twenty different five minute excerpts of full-length plays will be chosen and performed at the Competition. In a modern recreation of the Ancient Greek Playwright Festival, blindly cast actors perform excepts of new plays clad only in togas! Audience members cast their vote in their favorite excerpts to determine the winner. The winning play is performed in full in KCT’s 2019 Season!

Every audience member will be provided one complimentary vote (Ostracon in ancient Greek) for their favorite play. Addition votes are one dollar with a limit of ten votes per night per person. The play with the most audience votes by the end of the production run will be declared the winner and will be performed in full during Khaos Company Theatre’s 2019 season.

Submitted works must be either unproduced, not produced in the state of Indiana, or be scheduled to be produced in the state of Indiana at the time of submission. Submitted Plays must be full length plays and can not be musicals. Any playwright may submit a play, however Indiana Playwrights and emerging artists will be given special consideration due to our mission of supporting local and emerging artists. Plays that have not yet had a production will receive a workshop with KCT staff in the form of a script reading and a staged reading.

To submit your five minute excerpt, please fill out the Dionysia 2018 Play Submission Form and upload your excerpt via our play submission form. Please e-mail kctindy@outlook.com with any questions.

We consider a five minute excerpt to be a five to eight pages, single spaced, PDF or word document that is typed in 12 point, Times Roman Numeral Font.

Plays will be accepted on a rolling basis until Thur. Feburary 1st 2018 at 9pm EST, 2018.

KCT will contact all playwrights who submit their excerpts as to which excerpts will be performed in the 2018 Dionysia Competition. To stay informed on upcoming events, check our website http://www.kctindy.com and see us on facebook.com/KCTIndy .

We look forward to your play submission!

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Join us for KCT's Annual Modern Recreation of the Ancient Greek Dionysia Playwright Festival performed by blindly cast actors performing in togas.

Audience members see twenty short play excerpts and vote for the one play they want to see performed in full in KCT's next Season.

Ten different plays are performed on two different nights and the top five are voted on during each weekend from each night.

The final round consists of the top five plays from both nights.

The winner of the final round is performed in KCT's next season.
