This year, RipRap Literary Journal is accepting work that is innovative, forward-thinking, and as entertaining as it is thought-provoking.
RipRap accepts submissions from September 28th – December 18th

**Do not include identifying information on your manuscript or in the "Title" section of the submission form**

RipRap is a literary journal designed and produced annually since 1951 by students in the Master of Fine Arts, Creative Writing program at California State University Long Beach (CSULB). RipRap offers a humble invitation to talented and aspiring writers of short fiction, creative nonfiction, flash fiction, and poetry, as well as creators of visual art such as photography, illustration, and comics. New editions of the journal are published each May, including interviews with award winning, published writers who are featured in the CSULB English Department’s Visiting Writers Series or from the known writing community.

Submissions:

All submissions are blind-read by our editing staff and editorial panels. Your manuscript may not include any identifying information. Any pieces submitted containing personal information that reveals the identity of the author will not be considered for publication.

You may submit to more than one genre except for Fiction/Creative Nonfiction; only one submission will be accepted for consideration for those genres.

RipRap does not accept previously published material (including personal blogs & websites). However, simultaneous submissions to other journals are allowed as long as RipRap is notified immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. If one piece out of a single submission containing a collection of poems (or images, flash fiction, etc) needs to be withdrawn, but others in the collection are still available, please email us as soon as possible with the title of the piece and we will note it on your submission.

Declination and acceptance notices are sent in early spring. Contributor copies will be sent as remuneration to those artists/writers residing in the U.S. Unfortunately, the cost to ship internationally is prohibitively expensive.

Editorial notes may be provided as necessary for publication. These guidelines subject to change without notice.

We look forward to your submissions!
