 ..if the intention is not to read for pleasure but to seach for sth to translate/direct etc. I mean, if one has to buy/order all of the plays that seem promising by the looks of the synopsis, one would go bankcrupt.

I convince the A.D. of my local Community Theatre to buy them and then I borrow the scripts from the theatre.
